As part of this year's Tramlines Fringe, Modern Age Music will be taking over Record Junkee on Friday 19th July. The free event will host an array of up-and-coming artists, and will run from 12pm until late. We've selected our top 5 picks for who you must see if you're attending!

The Howlers

London based trio The Howlers recently released their debut single "La Dolce Vita", a track that conveys the inspiring and important message of self love and embracing who you are. Combining accomplished songwriting and seasoned musicianship with an unrelenting fiery energy and their hard-hitting, desert-rock tinged sound, The Howlers are an impressive band on the rise, and ones definitely worth watching.

The Novus

What do you get when elements of post-punk, grunge and gritty garage rock come together to form something brilliant? Midlands quartet The Novus. Armed with intense power and a talent for writing vibrant, anthemic tracks, the band have created an inimitable sound that is truly their own, and are utilising this to set themselves apart from any other band around right now. Most recently, the four-piece were nominated for Best Indie Act at the Black Country Music Awards, this feat just proving even more that they're a band worth watching.

Pax Romana

Having already racked up 10,000+ Spotify listens in just a few months on their debut single "Waste", Pax Romana are another thrilling band on the rise. Providing in-your-face vocals, thunderous instrumentation and a colossal sound, the Barnsley quartet have seen themselves receive radio play from BBC Radio 6 and are undeniably one of the most exciting bands to come out of South Yorkshire in the last few years.

The Brookes

Taking influence from both indie and punk, Grimsby four-piece The Brookes breathe new life into both genres, injecting their own flair and bring into existence an infectious, dynamic sound. Tackling subject matter such as feminism and politics, the punk influences shine through within their tracks, especially when combined with the fantastically rowdy instrumentation that gives a modern twist to the genre. The Brookes are certain to provide a brilliantly executed, attitude-packed set, and are not one to miss.
