Following a year of uncertainty for the music industry, Rory Wynne is back and ready to take 2021 by storm with explosive new single "Make You Mine". Bursting to life with retro synths, pronounced percussion and those instantly recognisable vocals, the track carries a dancey, disco aura whilst staying true to Wynne's classic power-pop style.
Whilst the instrumentation has similar elements to previous releases, it feels as if Wynne has refreshed his usual sound and amped it up even more to create what is arguably his biggest and best release to date. Wynne returned as producer, again illustrating his prowess at the production helm. "Make You Mine" showcases the very best of Rory Wynne's talents, and continues to prove that he is a creative force to be reckoned with.
"Make You Mine" feels like the beginning of a rousing new chapter in Wynne's musical career, and highlights further evolution within the development of his signature sound. It takes tremendous skill to plug unique and nuanced elements into the traditional pop formula, but it has now reached a point where if one of Wynne's tracks came on the radio, you'd know instantly that it's one of his creations.
Wynne states; “When I moved to the centre of Manchester I wanted to make a new song with a huge fresh sound. It’s one of my favourites I’ve written, I think it has everything: big hooks, catchy melodies, even Michael Jackson/Quincy Jones-esque percussion and horns. The perfect tune to mark a new chapter.
With some songs everything comes to you at once and that happened with this one - it isn’t as autobiographical as my past singles. I was picturing it as more of a coming-of-age movie lyrically.”
