- The Sound

Interwoven with a mix of upbeat indie tones and retro synths, "Obsidian", the second single from Reardon Love, is a worthy successor to the Hull quartet's debut release. A synth-heavy intro opens the track, before being joined by driving drums and subtly effected guitars, giving life to that retro-tinged sound that is becoming a signature for the band. Effortless vocals compliment the uptempo instrumentation, delivering catchy, memorable melodies in vocalist Matt Fletcher's slick, accessible style. The songwriting is accomplished and classy, and cultivates a fun, nostalgic sound reminiscent of the 80's and early 90's.
"Obsidian" is a perfect example of how to do a second single right. It seems that Reardon Love are finding a sound that is truly their own, and considering the quality of the music they have released so far it is easy to see why they have already earned themselves radio play and a slot at Bardfest last month. The quartet certainly have a bright future ahead in the industry and it's exciting to see where they will go next.
Reardon Love's new single "Obsidian" coming soon
