With an array of layered retro and contemporary electronic tones and a hook-laden chorus, "The Next Day" is another brilliantly uptempo synth-pop offering from Stockport singer, songwriter and producer Rory Wynne. As is becoming synonymous with Wynne's music, he utilises an abundance of atmospheric and shimmering synths to build a stadium-worthy sound, proving that uncomplicated songwriting doesn't mean the final product will be uninteresting.

Smoother vocals, that were originally part of the track's rough demo, blend seamlessly with the lively, upbeat instrumentation, traversing the musical elements with memorable melodies and relatable lyrics. The track flows organically throughout, shining a spotlight on Wynne's ability to develop effortlessly composed songs that feel natural and true to his artistic principles.

Like all of his previous releases, "The Next Day" was written, recorded, produced and mixed by Wynne. It is clear to see his increasing skill as a producer, and this brings the very best out of the track, giving the mostly electronic nuances clarity and audibility.

When speaking of the track, Wynne says; “I love this song, it’s so simple, so fun to play and such an earworm. I think I wrote the overall vibe in like 10 minutes then recorded it the next day and that’s when it really took shape and became a proper song. It’s a really basic production too and I even used the vocals from my rough demo on the final version because there was a quality to them that I liked.”

“I think everybody can relate to this song - it’s that all-too-familiar story. And that’s what I like in a song, when I play it live you can see that look of recognition in the crowd and it’s great that we’re all united in that way and by the last chorus… we’re all in this together.”

"The Next Day" is out now via Very Clever Records. Listen to the track here

Rory Wynne has a residency at Zombie Shack in Manchester throughout September and October. Tickets available here
