Punchy and upbeat from the get-go, The Islas' latest release "Aileen" is a fantastic showcase of indie rock done right. Carried by that classic indie instrumentation that is both utilised by the much admired titans of the genre and loved by the fans, the track is an instant hit, packed with intoxicating, catchy vocal melodies that are delivered in an effortless manner. Each element of the song compliments the next beautifully, bringing to life a hugely anthemic sound that wouldn't sound out of place at an arena or on the main stage at a festival.

The track is a relatively short one, clocking in at just over 2 minutes 30, and certainly leaves you wishing it would never end. The Islas capture a timeless sound with their own flair, one that will be stuck in your head long after the track has reached it's finale. "Aileen" is an incredibly accomplished sounding track, with gifted songwriting skills and an ear for creating irresistible tunes combining to form something brilliant.

The track was written about the estranged relationship between Tyria Moore and 80's serial killer Aileen Wuornos. Speaking of the track, vocalist Nathan Baverstock says; “I remember writing Aileen, I had this little riff that I’d sing along to and I recall the words in my head, the ‘So Silly Aileen’. I read about Aileen through Wikipedia one day. I read about her life and the horrors she went through and also the murders she committed. Along the page there was a paragraph about Tyria Moore, her girlfriend. I thought how could you love someone so evil? But then that feeling became mixed, it’s in its own way beautiful. Hauntingly beautiful”.
